For Mattel employees in El Segundo, California, daily meetings are a fact of life.
It's not unusual for them to be at the "Tower" (the main building) for one meeting,
then rush to the Design Center a half-mile away for the next. It couldn't happen
without the team of dedicated drivers that runs the Mattel shuttle buses, and we give
these professionals their props with the
HWC™ Haul Of
Flame™!
Mr. Hot Wheels® himself, Larry Wood, designed the Haul Of Flame™, a
souped-up version of the real shuttles employees depend on everyday to get their jobs
done. And by souped-up, we mean seriously modified! Larry took the current shuttle,
blew out the engine, added a drag racing-type exhaust, then, to finish it all off,
gave it wheels that would make the Mattel Shuttle at home on any track, anywhere!
Once the design was complete, it was dressed for duty in gloss white and
Spectraflame® blue finish, proudly displaying the Mattel® logo, the Hot
Wheels® logo, and a flame deco −− all rolling on Neo-Classics™
Redline® wheels with a bent-axle suspension. This item was produced in small
quantities, and with features like these, it's bound to go fast!
